Turner records the view from Thorp Arch Manor Mill, looking downstream to Thorp Arch Bridge. The second of two sketches of Thorp Arch, for notes on which, and some possible occasion for Turner’s visit, see the preceding D11978; Turner Bequest CLII 4. The building beyond the bridge is a large Georgian terrace above the Spa, which is still standing.
