The first of two similar subjects (with D11941; Turner Bequest CL 22) taken in the south bay at Scarborough, and probably showing the same cows on the beach. The distinctive shape of Osgodby Point can be seen to the right. This is only visible beyond White Nab when quite close to the south pier of Scarborough Harbour. The view is more or less the continuation to the left of another sketch in the sequence (D11944; Turner Bequest CL 25).
