The two sketches, of Ramsgate and Eton College among trees, are drawn at top and bottom of the leaf. There are more views of Eton on folios 11, 14 verso and 15 of the sketchbook (D10430, D10437, D10438) and of Ramsgate running from folio 22 verso (D10451).
The recipe, written at left, is as follows:
4 Pounds of Roman Vitriol
a Kettle of boiling water
2 Pounds of Peat ash
¼ of yellow Arsenic makes a
good green, for walls equal to oil
This is a version of a common mixture for green paint.
