With the sketchbook turned horizontally, Turner filled much of this page with a view of hillside buildings. Large fort-like buildings are included in the upper half of the page. These sketches may have been taken at the defensible towns of Mont Saint-Michel or Cherbourg. These towns feature on multiple pages in this volume, lists of which are provided in the sketchbook introduction for comparison.
