For the religious procession of which six figures are drawn here, see especially folio 5 of this sketchbook (D04802), and also folios 6 and 7 (D04803, D04804). Only two figures are coloured, indicating black vestments. The others are perhaps choristers. Folio 7 shows the same figures with banners, here seen to bear a cross.
