Description
Contains a draft manuscript text on the USSR in nine parts. Most probably, it was prepared for a talk on artists in the USSR, mentioned in a letter from Eckman (TGA 897/1/1/151), and scheduled for 2 June 1936. In the first phrase Lipchitz states [his ?] 'knowledge of Russian language and friendly relations in the world of arts'.
Full text in translation:
'1.Knowledge of Russian and strong friendships in the [world of] arts, to maintain from within.
2.To understand things from URSS one needs to think that a new world is born, not approaching it as an aesthetic, expert in art, actually the new generation is so eager to know and to develop themselves quickly (Sidorov) that it is impossible to measure their quality and their future needs, them who will be the consumers of tomorrow
3.Caring for the most precious [feature] in a material human being, socialist education in the USSR pays attention to any artistic capacity, meticulously and passionately. From childhood there is attention to artistic talents, as well as all other talents. Spercial attention to children who show artistic talents [whole phrase in pencil]. Art school Boubnov and in many other centers. Scientific experiments to estimate artistic disposition. Children with artistic talents usually have higher intellectual abilities. Experience for the imagination. Heal our patients Vrubel [in Russian]. Grants to look after our parents. Schools, clubs, factories, kolkhozes, Red Army have artistic circles and create a future for artists. Education paid by the state, superior studies, sport education, basically a full education.
4.Artistic associations, painters, sculptors, architects, every republic has its own. Brigade of sympathizers, orders, competitions, encouragements, buys, museums, conference, debates, exhibitions. Contextualize with the consumers, factories, something, red cross, debates. Vsekokhudozhnik [in Russian] cooperatives for contract with unions at first glance. Reception of the artworks at Vsekokhudozhnik [in Russian]. Exhibitions, distribution, developing, enrichment of society from 6.000p a 70.000.000. 2. Furnished factories, towns for artists, sports fields and all the commodities for general life or professional life such as foundry, colors, papers...
5.Graphic art, illustrations for books, children's books, theater, the best artists working for theatres Tyshler, Tatlin, Favorskii, Rabinovich [all names in Russian]. Architecture (2.000 architects), architectural studios under the leadership of a responsible chef Vesnin [in Russian]. Big family, observing the life in a studio. Architects' house and entourage is very opulent, libraries, gigs, debates about large constructions, making of 'Volga-Canal'. Sculpture,case of Lavrov, exhibitions in the streets during [state] holidays
6.Large commemorative exhibition for the 20th anniversary of the Soviet power 'Industry of Socialism', Red Army's ways of managing,paying in advance.
7.Conference with a debate about the 'Soviet's portrait' organised by the Moscow painter's Association Grabar. Debates, results not only for the artists but also for the arts, old confrontations, young responsibilites, because there is one ministry [Commissariat] of arts. Press is informing the entire country, debates everywhere, revolution [?], artist is not isolated.
Museums are managed in an admirable way. Western art exhibitions showing foreign artists. Slander from the press - intourist [foreing tourist] travelling.
8.Iranian's exhibition, 80 rooms from prehistory to today. Russian museum of art in Leningrad. Museum of compared art [?], casting, cabinets of prints, exhibitions.
