Description
Full text in translation:
'My dear friend,
The impression of your visit to my house reminded me the warmth of our friendship. I was touched but also sad at the same time.
So much effort, so many risks, so much work and always daring, all this abandoned, sad. What a pity!
But such is life and such is my destiny.
A lesson that emerges from all this is, one that I seek to seize and to follow in all humility.
I?m working a lot now and I'm also at the foundry, which is why I was late in responding to you, but immediately after receiving your letter, I told my wife that the small painting is yours. I hope it is already with you.
There is a beautiful Renoir exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Vienna. To my shame, I have not been yet as I've been so busy.
Please write to me and excuse my short letter but I'm running to the station on my way back to the foundry.
Best wishes, Lipchitz'.
