Description
Graphite, crayon, and watercolour on paper, 38 pages plus covers, 6 pages are missing, 140 × 230 mm
In this sketchbook there are studies for war drawings (opencast coalmining 1943 and blast furnaces 1944) and for a projected mural for Impington Village College, near Cambridge. However this project eventually fell through for lack of funding. This book must have been used at the same time as Sketchbook 9 and Sketchbook 11; as all three include studies for the Tate's painting 'Furnaces', 1944. Nearly half the pages are blank.
