Description
In this long letter sent by Barbara Hepworth to Margaret Gardiner, Hepworth writes about Desmond [Bernal] and how she feels about him and his ideas, writing that he has shaken every part of her, she writes about philosophy, the sciences, society and religion and says that she uses all the discoveries and inspirations within these fields in her sculptures. Hepworth also writes about materials for her carving and mentions her dislike of plastic. She also mentions Gardiner's new works, future holiday plans and news about her family. Hepworth writes about her upcoming operation, she says it was made worse by her work 'carving'.
