Description
This letter sent by Barbara Hepworth to Margaret Gardiner concerns general and personal news. Hepworth says that she is reassured that Martin does not have scarlet fever and asks Gardiner to keep her informed, she also says that she felt refreshed and nourished after seeing her. Hepworth also writes about World War II and politics and says that in these difficult times it's important to keep in contact with each other 'because loneliness is the hardest'. Hepworth also gives news about Joan, Ben Nicholson and writes about the children's hobbies like reading poetry. Hepworth writes about a large sculpture she has started saying she was able to do so because of the help of Joan with the children and also gives news about their common friends Adrian Stokes and Naum Gabo.
