- Letter from Vanessa Bell, Asheham House, Rodmell, Lewes, East Sussex, to Duncan Grant, written over two days. The first section reports her failure to lease Wissett Lodge, where conscientious objector Grant had hoped to undertake farm labour, and the possibility of acquiring Charleston. The second describes the peace of Asheham in comparison to the war activity elsewhere. Also mentions Quentin Bell, Roger Fry, Gunn, Hicks, Stacey, and Virginia Woolf.
