Description
Letter from Vanessa Bell, 46 Gordon Square, Bloomsbury, London, to Duncan Grant. His mother wants to give Wissett Lodge to other tenants, which Bell advises against in the light of Grant's uncertain status as a conscientious objector. She discusses her friends and acquaintances, in particular Dora Carrington, with whom she is going to clear out Grant's studio, talkative Madge Vaughan, pregnant Faith Henderson, Roger Fry, who has rejected one of her designs, and Mark Gertler - the letter features a sketch of a photograph with a figure Gertler compared to Grant. Also mentions Clive Bell, Bunny Garnett, Mary Hutchinson, John Maynard Keynes, Ottoline Morrell, Karin Stephen, Jane Strachey, and Sylvia Whitham.
