She is mentally exhausted by Virginia's 'brilliant' talk, displayed during a visit by Vita Sackville-West, and is working on carpet designs. She confirms the arrival of Grant's Christmas cards for Virginia and Roger Fry, and plans to take the children to their paternal grandparents at Seend then London before the school term starts. Also mentions Jane Austen, Angelica and Clive Bell, Bunny Garnett, Edward Sackville-West, Stephen Tomlin, Edward Wadsworth, and Leonard Woolf.
