Description
Letter from Vanessa Bell, Charleston, Firle, East Sussex, to Duncan Grant. She describes her Christmas day : writing the letter in the warm peace of the studio; the children playing with presents; preparations for Christmas dinner; and 'The Messiah', a biography of Clive Bell that forms part of Quentin Bell and Virginia Woolf's 'Charleston supplements'. Roger Fry returned the previous day to his ménage à trois with Boris and Helen Anrep; she relays a letter from Bicknell demanding works from Bell and Grant for the upcoming London Group exhibition; and asks for advice about birth control for 'Mrs W.', presumably Virginia. Also mentions Igor Anrep, Jane Austen, Margery Fry, Frank Hindley Smith, Mrs Standen, and Leonard Woolf.
