Description
Letter from Vanessa Bell, Charleston, East Sussex to Duncan Grant, staying with Adrian and Karin. She describes her return to Charleston from a trip, finding the studio skylight vandalised, and remembers her first winter there with the servants. She also complains about the boyfriend of cook Blanche Payne, staying in a nearby pub and a favourite of her sons, and asks Grant to measure the panels in John Maynard Keynes' rooms in King's College, Cambridge, for a decorative scheme. Also mentions Angelica Bell, Mrs Brereton ('La B.'), Nellie Brittain, Emily and Jenny Pratt, Eva Edwards, Grace Germany and her acquaintance nicknamed 'President Wilson', Mabel and Trissie Selwood, and Jane Strachey.
