Description
Munich, 19 August
Dear Annie!
Here’s the receipt for the key. Hopefully Degewop from the Storch arrived in one piece. Today there was more running around from one department to the next, writing dull but important letters, sorting dirty washing and tidying rooms, during which Charlie Bergfeldt told me about his career path and his plans for the future. He now wants to open a restaurant in California – and he wants me to join him! Can you and I agree to that?!!!
Missing Professor Rosen from Stuttgart seems to have been a fortunate twist of fate, because now it transpires that our rather backward and malodorous cleaning lady opened the door to him and that her rather hen-like personality inspired in him such joy that he began courting her there and then and immediately extended an urgent and earnest invitation to her and me to come back to his hotel for black coffee.
The drawing schools are still closed for the summer holidays, so the life-drawing and print-making may have to wait until we’re in Vienna. But I’ve got writing tomorrow morning, and I’m in a good mood for it. When are you coming and for how long? Should I come to Schwaz to drive you here and back in your car? It wouldn’t be any trouble?
Yours,
Edl
