8 October 1968
Fischer is in hospital, which makes me very worried.
My dearest Master,
Due to the drinking games in Munich we can't get a room there until 10 October and unfortunately we can't fly back by the date you suggest. I need to spend at least a week there, perhaps longer. Just to be sure, I'd say you shouldn't expect us to be back before 20 October. You'll be interested to hear that I might be doing The Frogs in Munich. Many thanks for the very tempting prospect of publishing your book with Kupferberg, and hearty congratulations to you that it's finally going to appear! I have a stomach infection and I'm in a bad mood because no-one in Germany is willing to republish my writings. They're commercially viable elsewhere, but apparently not in Germany. Sex and communist books, yes! They'll faff around in Germany until the Russians march in, as they did in Bohemia. God bless them! I hope the two of you are happy and healthy. I'm looking forward to seeing you. Please give the beautyfull one in particular an affectionate embrace for me.
Yours, OK
