My dearest Pepi,
I've just skimmed through your book, which I happened to have to hand, and I really must congratulate you on it. It's beautifully written, with such care and attention, compiled with love and good judgement as far as the illustrations and contributions are concerned. It's a shame it can't also be translated and made available in other languages; the young people of England, France, Italy, Spain and so on need our encouragement perhaps even more than those in Germany (it might be fifty years or more before we can harbour such hopes for those behind the wailing walls of Berlin, Jerusalem, Shanghai etc.). You have written a very fine book and for this I kiss you most affectionately, also our beloved beautyfull one for creating the climate in which you could grow to such maturity! Please also give copies to our dear Fred and Neurath and Harry Fischer and Ludwig Goldscheider and to Olda's father. I'll see you again in September if I'm still alive.
Many, many thanks, also to your publisher, and to the beautyfull one, from your very devoted
Oskar Kokoschka
