This exhibition celebrates Barbara Hepworth's Centenary year since her birth as well as Tate St Ives' tenth anniversary. Hepworth was one of the foremost British artists of the twentieth Century and is internationally acclaimed as one of the major sculptors of her time.
This exhibition will focus on specific themes – Single Form, Maternal Forms, Landscape Sculpture, Scented Guarea, Coloured Stones, Interrelated Masses and Public Commissions.
As a number of bronze works are on permanent display at the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden in St Ives, the exhibition at Tate St Ives will concentrate on wood and stone carvings, in addition to groups of drawings.
