Unleash your inner artist, inspired by kinetic art that moves, wobbles and hangs in Tate’s collection.
This May Half Term, we’re turning the South Tank into a playground for your moving masterpieces, and we want you to join us!
We've got all sorts of squishy stuff, sturdy objects, and interesting bits and bobs for you to get creative with. You’ll work together to make hanging sculptures that sway, swing, and swirl through touch and height. It's all about getting hands-on and using your imagination to connect, attach, twist, balance and stack your way from floor to ceiling. We’ll display all your creations in the large open space as you turn the Tanks into your canvas.
For under 5s
We've got a special soft, playful space for you to explore together. They can crawl, balance and create to their heart's content using movable surfaces and stacking parts. And when the fun is done, the whole family can take a breather and read books about art you can make and move.
About Relaxed Hours
This session is primarily for neurodivergent children and adults, and any other visitors with sensory needs who prefer a more relaxed experience, plus their families, friends and carers. Those who are looking for a playful-yet-still-relaxing hour to start the day can visit the space – just with smaller groups so we can support any additional needs you might have.
Resources will be available on the day including:
- Access Station
- Ear defenders
- A quiet breakout space
- Fewer people in the space and smaller groups
Tate staff will be aware that this is an access hour and will take that into consideration as they look after you and the artwork.
