Taking inspiration from Claude Monet’s Water Lilies, the space will be transformed into an immersive installation where you can create a layered, collaborative painting of epic proportions. Your wave-like marks will flood a monumental canvas filled with the drawings and messages of previous visitors and collaborators, mirroring Murillo’s own works, which frequently have letters and writing obscured beneath their paint-strokes. These collective artworks will then be displayed in the Turbine Hall, creating The flooded garden!
About Relaxed Hours
This session is primarily for neurodivergent children and adults, and any other visitors with sensory needs who prefer a more relaxed experience, plus their families, friends and carers. Those who are looking for a playful-yet-still-relaxing hour to start the day can visit the space – just with smaller groups so we can support any additional needs you might have.
Resources will be available on the day including:
- Access Station
- Ear defenders
- A quiet breakout space
- Fewer people in the space and smaller groups
Tate staff will be aware that this is an access hour and will take that into consideration as they look after you and the artwork.
