Tate welcomes three small, expert organisations to share their approach alongside one another as a way of promoting genuinely inclusive practice.
Join artists and young people from Heart n Soul, Octavia Poetry Collective and Corali Dance Company as they test multiple ways of taking up space at Tate. Watch, talk and get involved in activities as you move between floors of the Blavatnik Building to animate the concourse areas.
Ever wanted to be on the radio? Join Heart n Soul’s young people’s taking part group Do Your Own Thing as they broadcast their radio show live at Tate Modern. Chat with them about your experience of the day or join them on the dance floor as they perform their own songs throughout the afternoon. Don’t forget to look out for roaming performances by Do Your Own Thing throughout the Blavatnik Building too.
Corali will be using Fluxus inspired instruction cards to help you turn letters in your name into dance. Dancers from the company will be in the gallery testing out the possibilities and invite you choose a card and take part. Come and join us and see what new performances unfold as we try ideas out together.
How does being with Tate’s collection make you feel? What colour/taste/memory can't you get out of your head after leaving a gallery? Sit and share your thoughts with Octavia Poetry Collective who will write you a personalised poem of your Tate experience. Have your poem read to you, take it home to keep, or donate it to an evolving collection of everyone’s thoughts from the day.
Testing, Testing, Testing invites you to think about the very many ways in which individuals and groups might elect to take up space.
Developed by Tate London Schools and Teachers team and Public Programmes in collaboration with Heart n Soul, Octavia Poetry Collective and Corali Dance Company and generously supported by Daytrippers.
This event will be photographed for Tate and our partners.
