This bespoke workshop led by Saira Niazi will allow participants the opportunity to learn how to plan and deliver a personalised walking tour of their area. By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to take their friends and family on a journey, rediscover the magic of everyday exploration and collectively learn about an area and each other.
The workshop will include a practical session/ wandering which includes visits to various hidden London gems in the vicinity of Tate Modern, which will be brought to life through storytelling and anecdotes of people and place. Participants will also be introduced to various community projects along the way, and there will be opportunities to document the wandering through photography and writing.
The workshop will last 4 hours and will begin with a wandering session through locations in Southwark including Borough Market, Crossbones, and along the Thames. Participants should meet at Tate Exchange, Level 5 Blavatnik Building. This will be followed by a workshop to create your own wandering, exploring personal stories and places important to you.
Participants will need to bring a map of the area of which they would like to create a tour.
