Interested in making mixed-media art? Join this session in the studio with contemporary artist Nadeem Din-Gabisi to learn the practical skills of using ink, pastels and paint. Work with peers to produce your own monuments inspired by the thought-provoking work of the Hyundai Commission: Kara Walker.
The workshop will begin with a tour of the powerful Kara Walker, Fons Americanus put together by Tate Collective Producers, exploring the history of monuments. Who are they for, who do they serve, and why are they built?
Working alongside Din-Gabisi, the workshop is an opportunity to experiment with peers and share ideas. The artist will also share their career pathway and practice, demystifying what it’s really like to be an artist today. Lunch and materials will be provided.
Look out for other events in the Tate Collective series where you can learn hands-on skills in photography, film, weaving, sound, sculpture, digital making, print making and illustration.
