Matthew Herbert

Matthew Herbert has made music from the life of a pig, a bomb exploding in Libya, an orgasm, someone swimming the English channel, a tank driving over a meal made for Tony Blair, 20,000 dogs, 245 shops in a shopping centre and countless thousands of other noises. He has scored Oscar-winning films, tv shows, plays, opera and games. He has written a book called The Music which is a description of an album he’ll never make and is currently writing the follow up.

Lee Patterson

Lee Patterson uses sound making and recording to devise performances with a selection of amplified objects, devices and processes, from rock chalk to springs, from burning nuts to vibrating metal. Based in Prestwich, Manchester, UK., he works internationally and has featured on UK TV, BBC Radios 3, 4 and 6, Resonance FM and on radio stations worldwide.

Max Porter

Max Porter is the author of four books. His work has been translated into more than 30 languages. He frequently collaborates with musicians, artists, theatre and filmmakers. His new book SHY will be published in April 2023.

Polly Russell

Polly Russell is a food historian, the Head of the Eccles Centre for American Studies at the British Library and the founder and curator of the Library’s annual Food Season. Polly’s research subjects include the history of British food and the social, cultural and political connections between food and everyday life as well as women's history and feminism.Polly was the on-screen historian for BBC2’s Back in Time series and has a regular food history column in the Financial Times Saturday Magazine.

Hugh Jones

Hugh Jones is a musician and instrument builder who produces music under the name Crewdson. He is an associate lecturer in the department of music at Goldsmiths College, University of London. He has written music for fashion shows for prominent designers Paul Smith and Phoebe English and tours with Thom Yorke as his stage technician. His self-designed instruments include The Concertronica, The Eggiophone and The Sonic Bonnet.

All Tate Modern entrances are step-free. You can enter via the Turbine Hall and into the Natalie Bell Building on Holland Street, or into the Blavatnik Building on Sumner street.

The Starr Cinema is on Level 1 of the Natalie Bell Building. There are lifts to every floor of the Blavatnik and Nathalie Bell buildings. Alternatively you can take the stairs.

There is space for wheelchairs and a hearing loop is available.

All works screened in the Starr Cinema have English captions.

• Fully accessible toilets are located on every floor on the concourses.
• A quiet room is available to use in the Natalie Bell Building on Level 4.
• Ear defenders can be borrowed from the Ticket desks.
