Inner Voices and Exterior Visions is a two-day film programme curated by Hera Chan, Alvin Li, and Yang Li, that brings together recent work by artists who adopt languages and strategies from pop culture to reflect on its entanglement with social, political, and cosmological events.
As part of Exterior: The Science of Collective Consciousness, the narrator of the selected works shifts from human outer shells to hybrid other-than-human forms. Playfully, the works help us think about what we consider to be outside of us or on the exterior. This includes bringing together found footage and original footage about history, social media, and civilization myths.
Li Shuang's ÆTHER (Poor Objects) amalgamates disparate footage that include a solar eclipse with images brightened by ring lights, a lighting tool used by social media influencers and vloggers.
Yin-Ju Chen's Extrastellar Evaluations III : Entropy : 25800 contemplates human civilization and humanity’s future through an investigation of space physics, extraterrestrial myths, and cosmography.
Chulayarnnon Siriphol's ANG48 is the synthesis of several Asian film history archives—born as an intelligent mechanical operating system of 48 members—taking the form of a half-human and half-golden snail.
