The Brazillian artist Cildo Meireles (born 1948) is widely recognised as one of the leaders in the international development of Conceptual art. Since the late 1960s he has created sculptures and installations which involve an element of participation, often drawing attention to the body in space and time, as a physical being, and also as a psychological, social, and political one. This exhibition will be the first extensive presentation of the artist’s work in the UK. Revealing how he is particularly fascinated by scale, the works will range from an object in the form of a finger-ring to an installation covering 225 square metres. Meireles will also create two new works in London.
