In the last ten years there have been few major survey exhibitions of video art in the UK and fewer that have chosen to emphasise the impact of broadcast TV rather than the cinematic. Video Positive – organised by FACT – looks at key ideas that have emerged through artists' use of video over the last four decades including manipulation and interrogation of video culture, documentation of real-time events, performance and the creation of new audience-artist relationships as well as the formal aesthetic potential of the medium.
Video Positive takes place at four Liverpool venues: Tate Liverpool, the FACT Centre, Bluecoat Gallery and the Open Eye Gallery and will incorporate a number of new commissions.
