Against the backdrop of the exhibition Transmitting Andy Warhol this unique 7 week course will introduce the fundamental techniques of printmaking. The course will focus on how the process of print media can inform the strategy of art making.
Through a series of practical workshops and group discussions led by local printmaker and artist educator Colette Whittington, you will respond to the Tate collection through hands on printmaking techniques that can be reproduced at the kitchen table at home.
You'll explore the reoccurring references to popular culture, reproduction, multiples, and positive and negatives which underpin many of Warhol’s artworks.
You will be introduced to basic intaglio and relief printmaking processes to experiment with print as a creative medium and will be guided to produce your own individual design ideas inspired by the Tate collection using experimental methods and demonstrating good print practice.
