Brazilian collective OPAVIVARÁ! will be transforming the gallery spaces into an immersive environment. Utupya is OPAVIVARÁ!'s first solo exhibition in the UK.
The exhibition features interactive installations. Visitors are invited to decorate their body with animal prints at the print skin station. See the giant hammock, made by stitching together several individual hammocks. The collective invite visitors to come together and share their experiences at a communal tea station. Herbal teas will be available encouraging visitors to relax.
OPAVIVARÁ! are part of an annual series of commissions entitled We Have Your Art Gallery. The first commission was Art Gym, devised and delivered by young people, in spring 2016 with Assemble. In 2017 artist Christopher Kline turned the gallery into a community theatre with O.K. – The Musical, reflecting Tate Liverpool’s commitment to having collaborative practice at the core of its programme.
