Chagall Summer School provides a unique opportunity to explore the work of one of the 20th century’s pioneering modern masters. Marc Chagall’s work, suffused with imagery drawn from Jewish ritual and folk art of the past, was also influenced by the emerging avant-garde styles of his day. The course will explore Chagall’s idiosyncratic dream-like creations, with their Fauve inspired palette influenced by his time spent in Paris.
This artist-led course is introductory and participative, taught with a mix of discussion and practical art-making activities. Through talks, one to one tutoring, group discussion and practical art-making the relaxed atmosphere encourages participants to develop their own artistic responses through experimentation.
