Join a discussion led by Laurence Payot, Dr Yiota Vassilopoulou (University of Liverpool) and Laura Robertson (The Double Negative), about the value of viewership and participation in contemporary art.
Artists working across a range of methods and mediums will be invited to discuss ways in which viewers or participants are integral to their practice, or indeed necessary to the completion of works. With a focus on practice, the discussion is aimed at artists wanting to share their skills for initiating collaboration and involvement.
Acknowledging that art can be socially-engaged without the need for participation, studio-based artists will be asked to reflect on their relationships with audiences, and the importance of reception to their approaches to making.
This talk is programmed by Laurence Payot, a Tate Exchange Liverpool Associate, in association with The Royal Standard.
