The paintings and drawings came for the greater part from two famous collections owned respectively by the Kröller-Műller Museum and J.V.W. Van Gogh, the artist’s nephew.
The opportunities for seeing this great collection weren't confined to those living in the metropolitan area of Greater London, but were also be extended to the residents of Birmingham and the Midlands and of Glasgow, in which towns the exhibition was shown before the pictures returned to Holland.
