Led by The Revd Dr Ayla Lepine, this tour of the William Blake exhibition makes connections between the Bible and Blake’s imagery. It will cover a range of Blake’s work to draw out key themes regarding modern life and the Church in Britain. Expect fresh insights into how Blake responded to notions of death, resurrection, desire and creation.
Biography
The Revd Dr Ayla Lepine
Ayla Lepine’s research focuses on theology and the arts in modern Britain. Following her MA and PhD at the Courtauld, she held postdoctoral fellowships at Yale and the Courtauld, and was Lecturer and Visiting Fellow at the University of Essex 2014-2018. She recently completed an MPhil in Theology at Cambridge and is Assistant Curate at Hampstead Parish Church. Her publications include articles in Architectural History, The Sculpture Journal, and British Art Studies, the co-edited books Revival: Memories, Identities, Utopias (2015) and Modern Architecture for Religious Communities (2018), and Tate’s In Focus on Winifred Knights’ The Deluge. She is a trustee of the charity Art & Christianity.
