The display will include photographs of life in revolutionary Russia and China from the David King and Martin Parr collections as well as snapshots of children, markets and jazz in the East End of London after the war by Nigel Henderson. The Show and Tell will also include images of Northern Ireland during the Troubles which have been collected by Conrad Atkinson, as well as insiders’ depictions of upper class and bohemian life in the photo albums of Vanessa Bell and Barbara Ker-Seymer. The display will also draw on the library’s large collections of works on photography and artist’s books.
Selected by Nicola Roberts (library co-ordinator) and Derek Rice (archive co-ordinator), with support from Darragh O’Donoghue (archive curator).
About the Show and Tell Programme
The Show and Tell programme invites visitors to explore highlights from the Library and Archive collections. Previous highlights have included letters, sketchbooks, artists’ books, catalogues, ephemera, photographs, and other special collections.
Each month’s display is curated to a specific theme or collection and includes a guided talk from the Library and Archive team, as well as occasional guest talks and performances. Show and Tell displays provide a unique viewing and handling experience highlighting art and ideas found in the Library and Archive collections.
