Louis Bever for Sargent and Fashion

See a contemporary take on iconic portraits from the Sargent and Fashion exhibition by photographer Louis Bever.

To celebrate the Sargent and Fashion exhibition at Tate Britain, Tate Collective has invited the photographer Louis Bever to recreate 4 portraits through his signature photographic style. He blends his distinctive photography style with vintage sportswear, offering a unique take on iconic artworks.

Louis Bever's work focuses on documenting individuals and promoting the accessibility of art through portraiture. His photos capture the essence of his sitters, emphasising the importance of evolving artistic expression.

Louis’s creative practice blends perfectly with John Singer Sargent's distinct approach to painting. Sargent, a master at using fashion to express individuality and character, employed a modern stylistic technique that included deliberate poses, imaginative direction, and daring wardrobe selections.

Tate Collective is supported by Anthony and Sandra Gutman, The Rothschild Foundation and Tate Patrons.
