Audio Description Tour: Figure Totem Beast

21 January 2019 at 11.00–12.15

Bernard Meadows, Startled Bird 1955. Tate. © The estate of Bernard Meadows.

Blind and partially sighted visitors are invited to join two of Tate's Audio Describers for a tour of Figure Totem Beast

Reflecting the anxieties of the Cold War, artists used new processes and materials to make work that was often immediate and brutal. One critic described it as a ‘Geometry of Fear’. This exhibition in the Duveen Galleries features younger artists including Lynn Chadwick, Elizabeth Frink and Eduardo Paolozzi alongside older artists such as Jacob Epstein and Henry Moore.

No booking required. Gallery chairs and hearing equipment are provided.
