To celebrate our partnership with UNIQLO and the opening of their new flagship Regent Street store, we invited Tate Collective to creatively respond to the theme ‘the spirit of London’ inspired by Tate collection works that capture the city. Three finalists were selected and have their work on display in the store and in print on merchandise.

The Open Call

The open call invited artists to capture the spirit of London inspired by Tate collection works that capture the people, energy, and diversity of the city. The brief invited submitters to be as creative as possible with their responses, so long as the work could be displayed across 8 digital monitors in the UNIQLO store.

The Results

We received over 400 submissions ranging from photography and illustration to collage and animation. A shortlist of 15 artworks were carefully chosen by a panel of Tate Collective Producers, Tate and UNIQLO staff. After much deliberation between a senior team of judges from UNIQLO and Tate, the final three artists were selected. The winners are paid for the use of their works which will feature in UNIQLO’s new flagship store on Regents Street.
