Tate Britain, 5 June 18.00 – 22.00
The spring season of the popular Late at Tate event series at Tate Britain will conclude on 5 June with Transform. As part of the new Late at Tate programme, which is curated by 15-25 year olds, the season marks two years of the national Circuit programme. Led by Tate and funded by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation, Circuit engages with young people, particularly those with least access to the arts through festivals, partnerships and peer-led programming.
The overarching motif of the spring season is Speculate; inviting visitors to share ideas about art and creativity through three themes which have been chosen by young people from Tate Collective London and inspired by the collection displays at Tate Britain - Question, Disrupt and now, Transform.
This free, drop-in event will see a host of installations and live performances in the historic galleries of Tate Britain, open after hours for young people. Reprezent Radio, the UK’s only radio station presented by under-25s, will be on the Clore lawn with artists and live DJs, a barbecue and bar. NONOTAK’s ethereal sound/performance installation will be presented in the North Duveens and for those who want to be part of the art, Circuit artist Jenny Moore will ask the audience to participate in a specially choreographed performance. There will also be the chance to join a drop-in workshop with multimedia artist Dan Farrimond, who has been commissioned by Tate Collective London to transform Tate collection artworks into the now defunct television information service, Teletext. Speculate events will be hosting a special talk for Transform in the Clore auditorium, with leading philosopher Ray Brassier.
Later in the year, the wider programme of Circuit will also include summer tours titled ‘Fresh Perspectives’ led by Tate Collective London for young people curious to know more about art on display, free after-hours entrance to The EY Exhibition: The World Goes Pop, with music and performance curated by Tate Collective London as well as free drop-in Saturday workshops to experiment, create and innovate through art.
Spaces will be available on a first come, first served basis.
