Tate wishes to acknowledge the role of key workers by displaying messages of thanks across the facades of its galleries in London. The famous lightbox at the top of Tate Modern and banners outside Tate Britain will thank key workers in their fight against Covid-19. Tate Britain is also being illuminated blue every evening to pay tribute to the NHS.
Boxes of gloves, face masks and suits usually used by conservation, art handling and curatorial staff have been donated to the London Ambulance Service and to Aintree Hospital in Liverpool; and food stored in freezers at Tate Britain and Tate Modern has been donated to support vulnerable people in surrounding communities.
