FESTIVAL NO.6 COME TO TATE BRITAIN FOR UNIQUE MINI-FESTIVAL ONE-OFF EVENING DURING DAVID HOCKNEY EXHIBITION TO INCLUDE BLOSSOMS, JOHN COOPER CLARKE, GREG WILSON

Tate Britain and Festival No.6 today announced a unique new mini-festival, taking place inside the gallery on the evening of Friday 3 March 2017. The night will include live music from Blossoms, poetry from John Cooper Clarke, comedy from Sarah Pascoe, and pop-up theatre performers across the gallery. Tickets also include exclusive evening acess to Tate Britain’s major David Hockney retrospective. Tickets go on sale on Friday 27 January 2017, priced £69, via www.tate.org.uk and +44(0)20 7887 8888.

Blossoms will headline the evening with a special live set in the grand neo-classical Duveen galleries, accompanied by No.6 composer-in-residence Joe Duddell and the No.6 ensemble. Shortlisted for the BBC’s Sound of 2016 award, the band’s hugely successful debut album topped the UK charts last year and they are now nominated for British Breakthrough Act at the 2017 Brit Awards. Music will also be provided by Charlotte Church and legendary DJ and No.6 resident Greg Wilson, all hosted by Radio 1’s Huw Stephens. Punk poet icon John Cooper Clarke and comedian Sara Pascoe will also perform live, along with the spectacular Spark drummers and pop-up theatre troupe Kitsch & Sync.

A feast of food and drink will be available, including a gin bar overlooking the Rotunda. Additional offers can also be booked in advance, from a three-course banquet inspired by Rex Whistler’s mural In Pursuit of Rare Meats (tickets £45), to a food emporium in the Djanogly Café (£25) and a wine tasting masterclass in the Grand Saloon (£15).

The multi award-winning Festival No.6 is an annual festival of music, arts and culture. It takes place each year in the Welsh village of Portmeirion, home of the cult TV series The Prisoner. The festival was born out of the desire to create a distinctive and intimate event, inspired by the uniqueness of the village and its cultural history. This is the first No.6 event outside Portmeirion, and will draw inspiration from Tate Britain’s beautiful architecture and inspirational art to transform the galleries and create a truly one-off experience for guests.

Tickets to the event include entry on the night to Tate Britain’s major spring exhibition, the world’s most extensive retrospective of the work of David Hockney. Open from 9 February to 29 May 2017, the show presents a fascinating overview of one of the most successful and recognisable artists of our time.
