Quiz Quiz: Which Pop Artist Are You?

Which Pop Artist Are you?

You're Andy Warhol!

Andy Warhol famously said that he likes boring things, but his art is anything BUT boring. It is bright and bold and he makes the most ordinary things look fun ... even a can of soup! (Soup was his favourite hunger quencher and every day for 20 years he had soup for lunch.) Like you, he was a little bit weird but that's OK as some of the most interesting people are weird

Andy Warhol used printmaking techniques to make most of his iconic artworks. Printing meant he could repeat images again and again and try out different colours.

You're Pauline Boty

Pauline Boty, like you, was a whirlwind of energy and ideas. She was clever and multi-talented. She was an actor, singer and dancer as well as an artist.

Boty used her art to comment on how women are are shown in art. Pop artists were often inspired by pictures of celebrities and magazine advertisements. In these pictures women are shown JUST looking pretty. This annoyed Boty (as she believed in Girl Power!). Her painting of the film star Marilyn Monroe shows her surrounded by bold patterns. This is very different from other ways Marilyn Monroe was painted by male pop artists like Andy Warhol.

Do you think Boty painted these patterns to celebrate how amazing Marilyn is? Or do the two walls of patterns make the film star look trapped?

You're Roy Lichtenstein

Whaam! Pow! Varoom! You love comic books and cartoons and fast food (a sandwich and a soda will do!) You don't like art that is serious or has any kind of serious message. Your art is fun, and bold and entertaining.

Roy Lichtenstein is the ultimate pop artist. He had his first exhibition in New York in 1962. He painted Mickey Mouse and other cartoon characters as well as ordinary objects such as sandwiches and car tyres. He was fascinated by comics and painted comic book explosions. This wasn't what art was supposed to look like and his paintings shocked everyone.

Did you know, Lichtenstein actually started his painting career by painting billboards? (The huge advertising signs you see by the side of the road.) That is how he learnt his bold painting style.

You're Nicola L

Like Nicola L, you are passionate about ideas. Nicola L said 'freedom is not for sale' and made art to share - not to sell.

You like performing - so does Nicola L. You also like art that you can interact with. Nicola L made a giant foot that you can sit on, move around or hide behind!

In the 1960s people got together to demonstrate against the things they thought were unfair such as racism and the way women were treated. Nicola L was inspired by this spirit of working together to make the world a better place. In 1969 she made a very unusual coat that could be worn by 11 people at the same time. It has lots of sleeves and lots of hoods and has been worn by lots of different people all over the world. Its globe-trotting adventures include swimming in Ibiza and ski-ing in the Alps!

How do other people see you?

What's your favourite read?

Hungry?
