The top and central views show Frankenmarkt, with its parish church on a hill in the middle distance (see also Tate D31469; Turner Bequest CCCXI 27a). A separate detail of the church’s spire is also recorded. Various notes are inscribed including ‘Fall of Water’ and ‘Fall’ at left, indicating the presence of a cascade or waterfall. Rough sketches of mountains, possibly in the Tyrol, are rendered at rear, with illegible inscriptions.
