These sketches show fortifications at Salzburg, probably taken on the Mönchsberg (see Tate D30294–D30295; Turner Bequest CCC 84–84a).
A description of the sketchbook is inscribed and signed by Henry Scott Trimmer accompanied by the initials of Charles Locke Eastlake and John Prescott Knight: three of the four executors of Turner’s will.
