With the sketchbook turned upside down relative to the foliation, Turner records a female figure with her hands on her hips with rough outline of buildings or landscape. At top left is part of a view of Stein and Mautern, continued from the folio opposite (Tate D30259; Turner Bequest CCC 65a). ‘Wood’ is inscribed to the right of the view.
Technical notes:
Water stains present, presumably owing to the Tate Gallery flood of 1928.
