In this view of Salzburg Turner depicts the tower of the Sebastianskirche, with the Salzach and Maria Plain beyond. His vantage point is the Kapuzinerberg, specifically the Flagellation Station of the Cross, one of six Stations situated on the ascent to the Capuchin monastery.
