J.M.W. Turner: Sketchbooks, Drawings and Watercolours

These various sketches show women’s heads in profile and from the back, a baroque church spire, two seated female figures, a cart, two male figures with one in military uniform, and a man in a rowing boat with an oar beside his vessel and ‘Horses’ (inscribed on the folio opposite, Tate D30130; Turner Bequest CCC 1) to his right. Inscriptions surrounding the man in the rowing boat read: ‘Boats on the Danube’ (inscribed on this folio and Tate D30130), ‘M[...] vs H[...]’ and ‘Blue and White’. ‘G[...] old W[?agon]’ is inscribed next to the sketch of the wagon.
