The principal sketch is a scene at Ghent, showing the Romanesque Church of St Jacques and the fifteenth-century Toreken, or ‘Little Tower’, which was once the premises of the tanners guild. At far left is part of a sketch of a domed building, continued from the folio opposite (Tate D29614; Turner Bequest CCXCVI 9a).
