With the page turned horizontally, the view is south along the Rio di San Moisè to its opening at the entrance to the Grand Canal, with the porch of the Dogana on the far side. The buildings on the left have been replaced by the frontage of a large modern hotel in a simplified Venetian palazzo idiom, and there appears to be no trace of what Turner seems to label the ‘Ponte Eramo’ in the foreground.
There is another view in the same direction from further north on folio 11 recto (D31811).
