The drawing was made with the page turned horizontally. It seems to show the former Oost Staketsel pier beside the channel into Ostend’s harbour; see also the recto (D30474) and folios 14 verso and 15 verso (D30484, D30486; CCCIII 13a, 14a), and compare views in the 1833 Brussels up to Mannheim – Rhine sketchbook (Tate D29599–D29600; Turner Bequest CCXCVI 3, 3a).
